PKP Seat Reservations: Seat Maps, Groups and Boarding
A PKP seat reservation should be checked against the train, date, class, carriage and seat shown in the issued travel documents. A seat preference entered during booking is not the same as a confirmed seat assignment. Reservation handling depends on the service and ticket selected.
Ticket, reservation and seating preference
A ticket describes the journey and conditions you have purchased. A confirmed reservation identifies the accommodation assigned where applicable. A seating preference tells the seller what you would like, such as window, aisle or seats together; it remains a request unless the booking confirms it.
Before paying, review how the offer describes reservations and any limitations on selection. After booking, read the actual ticket rather than relying on a search screenshot. If separate documents are supplied for the ticket and reservation, keep both accessible.
How to read carriage and seat numbers
Polish travel documents may use wagon for carriage, miejsce for seat and klasa for class. Match those details with your train number and travel date. A platform number is different from a carriage number, and the departure platform should be checked on the current station board.

Using a seat map
If the booking channel offers a seat map, check that it belongs to the selected departure and class. Read its key before choosing a seat. Layouts vary, and a diagram found for another service is not proof of the arrangement on your train.
If no map is offered, review which preferences the seller accepts and how the final allocation is communicated. Do not assume an unshown seat is unavailable or that a requested feature has been confirmed. The issued allocation is the detail to check before travel.
Booking seats together for a family or group
Search for the complete party where the booking channel allows it, and review the allocation for every passenger. Check carriage as well as seat numbers; consecutive numbers alone are not enough to establish that seats face one another or share a table.
If adjacent seating is essential, ask about the available options before paying. Availability can change while you compare departures, and a request for seats together does not guarantee the final arrangement. Keep all passenger tickets and the order reference together for checking.
Boarding and problems with the assigned seat
- Check the departure station, train number and live platform information.
- Find the carriage indicated on the ticket where an allocation is provided.
- Match the seat and class to the travel document.
- If there is a discrepancy or the seat is occupied, ask onboard staff for help.
Do not assume a missing seat number gives permission to board any train or occupy any seat. Clarify the ticket's validity with the seller or operator before travel. If your departure changes, check what happens to the reservation rather than carrying an old seat assignment over to the new train.
